Markhor Goes to Afghanistan

4 Sep 2021: Pakistan ISI Chief Lt. General Faiz Hameed's unannounced visit to Kabul, Afghanistan is a hot trend on Social Media. Apparent reports tells that it was an official invitation by the Taliban regarding I.R with Afghanistan and everything that goes with it.

However, this unexpected show-up raised many questions and left a strange negative impact on Pakistan around the globe.

After Talibans' takeover of Kabul, the new government has been a global hot topic due to the chaos erupted by its political instability. It seems like this will surely leave a serious impact on the region's security matters. In this regard, Pakistan and other neighboring countries should offer Afghanistan a helping hand to reestablish there an inclusive and acceptable government.

The visit of the DG ISI is no doubt an effort to discuss regional and border security. However, this could have been done with the help of official representatives of the government of Pakistan. The visit of the chief of ISI is thought to be criticized by the international media.  Whereas Indian news and social media has already started propagating it as if Pakistan has staged everything that happened back in Afghanistan.

Pakistan is a democratic country, its delegations have to be consisting of the official representatives of the government. The military-backed institution shouldn't be Pakistan’s first choice. It had a variety of choices. Considering the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi would have been a better and acceptable option for this visit. These all steps taken now and supposed to be acted upon later will definitely effect on Pakistan’s overall image.
